Endosteal Implants
What Are Endosteal Implants?
Endosteal implant is the most commonly used type of dental implant for replacing missing teeth. They require a healthy jawbone for successful placement and sufficient healing time for osseointegration. This process provides a strong and stable foundation for the replacement teeth, effectively restoring both the function and look of the patient’s smile.
Advantages
Advantages of an Endosteal Dental Implant
Endosteal dental implants offer several significant advantages for those considering dental restoration options:
High Success Rate
Endosteal implant solutions are known for their reliability and high success rates, providing a trustworthy solution for replacing missing teeth.
Durability and Strength
They offer exceptional durability and strength, closely mimicking the natural function and feel of real teeth, enabling patients to eat, speak, and smile with confidence.
Preservation of Jawbone
The placement of an endosteal dental implant stimulates the jawbone, preventing bone loss that typically occurs with tooth loss, thus maintaining the natural shape of the face.
Longevity
With proper care, these implants can last a lifetime, making them a cost-effective, long-term dental solution.
Improved Oral Health
Unlike bridges or dentures, endosteal implants do not require altering adjacent teeth, promoting better overall oral health.
Enhanced Comfort and Aesthetics
They provide a comfortable fit and a natural appearance, improving both the functionality and aesthetics of the patient’s smile.
Choosing an endosteal dental implant is a decision that brings together aesthetic appeal, functionality, and health benefits, making it a popular choice for dental restoration.

What you need
Best Candidates for Endosteal Implants
The best candidates for endosteal implants are individuals who meet certain health and dental criteria. These candidates typically include:
Healthy Jawbone
Adequate jawbone density and volume are important to support the implant. Those with insufficient bone may require a bone graft before proceeding.
Good Oral Health
A healthy mouth free from periodontal disease is essential for the success of the implanting procedure.
Non-Smokers
Smoking can impede healing and increase the risk of implant failure. Non-smokers or those who can quit during the implant endosteal process are ideal candidates.
No Major Health Issues
Certain chronic conditions, such as uncontrolled diabetes or heart disease, can affect healing. Candidates should be in good overall health.
Commitment to Oral Hygiene
A willingness to maintain good oral hygiene practices and regular dental check-ups is vital for the longevity of the implant.
Patience for the Process
Understanding and being prepared for the time required for the implant process, including healing and osseointegration.
Meeting these criteria increases the likelihood of a successful endosteal implant.

Procedure
Endosteal implant procedure
The endosteal implant procedure is a common and effective method for replacing missing teeth, providing a stable and long-lasting solution. It involves a series of steps, carefully performed by a certified dental professional, so that the implant integrates well with the jawbone, serving as a foundation for the artificial tooth.
Implant placement
It starts with inserting a titanium post directly into the jawbone, acting as an artificial root. First, the area is numbed to ensure comfort. A precise incision is made in the gum to expose the bone, followed by the careful drilling of a small hole where the dental implant endosteal is placed. Over the following months, the implant integrates with the bone.
Osseointegration
Osseointegration is a process that occurs after the placement of an endosteal dental implant, where the implant integrates with the jawbone. The bone grows around the implant, forming a strong bond that securely anchors the implant in place. This process is essential for the stability and longevity of the implant, as it allows the implant to function similarly to a natural tooth root. Osseointegration typically takes several months to complete, during which careful attention to oral hygiene and follow-up visits with the dentist are important for success.
Abutment placement
Once the implant has securely fused with the jawbone, an abutment is attached to the top of the implant. This small connector piece serves as the base for the artificial tooth, or crown. The procedure involves reopening the gum tissue to expose the implant endosteal, attaching the abutment, and then closing the gum tissue around, but not over, the abutment. The next step is final – a brand-new, shiny tooth.
New teeth
After the abutment placement, the final step in restoring a missing tooth with a dental implant is attaching the new teeth, or crowns. These artificial teeth are custom-made to match the color, shape, and size of your natural teeth. The crowns are securely attached to the abutments, providing the look and function of natural teeth. This allows you to eat, speak, and smile confidently, with a durable and long-lasting solution to missing teeth.

The Doctor and staff are excellent! You couldn’t ask for a better team. I’ve had a lot of issues with dentists over the recent years because I require my gums to be numb for any kind of work done to my teeth and most dentists didn’t want to or said I didn’t need it and then got mad when they couldn’t work on me. Searched and found Dr. Doktorman had some good reviews and I gave him a try. Now my go to dentist here on out. Staff is just as great as well. All are friendly, funny at times, and on point.

Dr. Doktorman is friendly and patient. I never have to wait long for an appointment. However, I’ve had this experience on different two different occasions. The doctor injects novacaine before working on a cavity. He has me wait but by the time he comes back and starts drilling it feels like the Novocaine has worn off. He gives me more when I’m in pain. But still I’m trying to have the minimal amount of pain when I go to the dentist and want to be as numb as possible for the whole procedure. This is one reason that I wound up switching to a different doctor.

I am looking forward to my next visit to my oral surgeon in Clifton. That is when I am receiving my dental implants. I found him to be very pleasant to deal with and do not mind going to the dentist at all now. After my next visit I will have a full set of perfect teeth, which I have not had for a long time.

When we were searching for a new family dentistry in Clifton, Dr. Edward Doktorman was highly recommended to us by a couple of people. My wife and my son went to see him first for a checkup and then it was my turn. I required two dental implants that were done without any discomfort. His chair side manner is very comforting. I was a bigger coward than my wife and son but I actually enjoy my visits now.
